[info] | [tickets]The best thing about live theatre is that it's three-dimensional—no glaring TV screens or towering movie projections, the action is all right there. So it's terribly sad when three-dimensional characters in plays are flat as boards, and all the more sad when they're stereotyped minorities. The trouble-making inner city black kid, the hyper-fabulous gay guy, the studious clown...wait, the studious clown? OK, nevermind.
Thank god for Jason Schafer, then, and his kinda-gay-not-gay-who's-gay-omg-whatever characters in i google myself. Blessed by Austinist's own Sam Armstrong earlier this year with the kind words that the show "[breathed] some life and dimension into queer-ish characters who are too often represented as two dimensional place-holders."
So, go, go, go, with yet another Austinist blessing! Two free tickets to tomorrow night's performance, 7/24, are available if you'd like to enter below—and that is so not a predictable gay pun.
